The Dutch Swing College Band started out as an amateur-college combo on liberation day (, may 5th) and through the years it has grown into a worldfamous jazz ensemble that has toured all five continents to much acclaim. The DSC played a prominent role during the post-war period.

Although there is no such thing as a Dutch Swing College, in the band's formative period it did act as an educational institute for jazz. This was in the immediate post WW II period when the Netherland had been denied jazz under the German occupation. The band soon became a first class unit with little owed to any foreign influence/5(4).

The main exception was Holland's Dutch Swing College Band. Formed in as The Orchestra of the Dutch Swing College, and still going, the band is Europe's longest established band. This collection sees them at their peak period and undergoing a bit of a transition/5(5).
